Ongoing Projects
The first of two ongoing projects is the chronicling of my motorcycle. I’m not quite sure yet how this project will take shape, but something is definitely brewing. I’ll probably be just as surprised as the rest of you on how this ends up.
The second large project on my workstation is another book — this one dedicated in its entirety to images I have taken of my wife. The book is planned for 440 pages, photo-embedded hardcover. This is obviously a massive project, and the tentative date of completion is October 1, 2010. The book will be a private publish, and only one copy will be printed (for myself). Some images, though, are published to this site for your viewing.
October 2010
This month I have another wedding shoot for a young couple. Looking forward to it, though I’ve yet to figure out how to carry all my gear on the motorcyle!

Food is on the brain this month, as I’m shooting food shots for two different establishments. The larger challenge for this month is to actually schedule off time (outside my increasingly busy day job) to work on a few themes for my Project 365, which is now entering its third month of continuous shooting.
I’m still convinced my Project 365 would vastly improve its quality if my wife would volunteer more frequently to model *ahem*.
July 2009
Two projects for this month were both challenging in their own respects. The beachfront wedding had beautiful weather, and the shots into the sun (a photographer’s nightmare … well, at least mine) turned out very well with the assistance of several early morning practice sessions a few weeks prior. The images can be viewed on my Flickr stream here.
The bar owned by a friend of the family, which has nearly finished its *massive* facelift and redesign, is set for another shooting session in the near future. The challenge of the previous session was to showcase the work that was going into the rennovations without making it look like a simple pile of 2x4s.
May 2009
Two shoots came up this month requested by friends:
1) a friend’s son was getting ready to go off to fashion design college in NYC and wanted several family shots for church presentations and memoirs before he “left the nest.” Very much like every late-teenage son, he was more eager to stretch his wings and fly into the great unknown. But, he cooperated intently (with some subtle nudging from mom), and she was very happy with the results.
2) a client’s family of a friend was having a reunion over Memorial Day weekend and wanted to capitalize on the chance to photograph all 10 family members being together. The weather was uncooperative for outside shots, but I had a good indoor Plan B setting. The family had a blast during the shoot, especially so with the ability to see previews of the photos on my LCD screen as I was shooting. Upon receiving the final discs with edited photos, they were thrilled.
The mother called me to state she “had never before experienced how a photographer could capture someone’s personality in a picture.” She said the entire collection was great, and how elated she was that I was able to capture the essence of both each individual’s personality as well as their interaction with one another. She also described the images as dynamic, which is a true compliment.
